Arriving at School: Once the children arrive at school, the first thing they do is put their lunch in the fridge, hang their coat up and put their school bag away.
Work Time is from 09.30 until 11.00. The children will work with both Montessori and educational materials. All materials are categorised into Practical Life, Sensorial, Maths, Language and Culture. Because each child is at a different stage of development they will learn at their own pace and are only ever encouraged to move on when they are ready. A child’s learning is led by each individual child. The children will work one-on-one with a designated teacher working their way through the Montessori programme.
Snack Time allows the children the opportunity to develop social and conversational skills by interacting with each other over a healthy snack. The school’s food policy is that the snack must be healthy and no chocolate, crisps or fizzy drinks, for example, are allowed.
Outside Time is from when the children have all finished their lunch until approximately 12.00 noon, where we all go into the garden and play.
Circle Time is from 12 noon until 12.30. We play musical instruments, dance, sing, mime, tell stories and discuss the theme of the week.
